FIR: At your nearest police station, file an FIR (First Information Report). To file a report, the police will request pertinent information. A copy of your FIR will be sent to you, which you will use to file your petition.
Contact Your Insurer: After filing a police report, the next step in filing an insurance claim in the event of car theft is to notify your insurer.
Inform RTO: Inform the RTO of your zone from where your vehicle is registered. RTO -Regional Transport Office.
Give Your Insurer the Necessary Documents: For a good auto theft insurance claim, the insurer may ask you to send multiple documents. The records contain a copy of the insurance documents, an original copy of the police report, claim forms, a copy of the driving license, a copy of the RC book, RTO transfer papers, and related RTO forms. You must also apply your original car keys in addition to these papers (two sets) to claim the insurance.
Get a No-Trace Report from the Police: If your vehicle cannot be tracked for a certain period of time, you have the right to a no-trace report from the police station. This document is necessary in order for your insurer to accept your claim.
How Long Would It Take for the Claim to Be Sanctioned?: As previously stated, the no-trace report is only produced 30 days or more from the date you file your police complaint, depending on your location. Aside from that, it can take your insurer up to 60 days to generate your car's IDV. Overall, the process will take anywhere from 3 to 4 months.
