Realme Narzo 20 Pro review: More to impress, less to complain:

Critic Rating - 3.5/5
User Rating - 4/5

Top Features :-
- Decent performance
- Efficient camera
- Fast charging

Realme Narzo 20 series smartphones come with the tagline ‘Feel the power’. The series comprises of three phones -- Realme Narzo 20A, Realme Narzo 20 and Realme Narzo 20 Pro. Of these three handsets- Realme Narzo 20 Pro boasts of some interesting features like 65watt SuperDart charge and a Super NightScape mode for low light photography. The handset comes with a starting price of Rs 14,999.
Here’s the complete review.

Realme Narzo 20 Pro: Design and display

Realme Narzo 20 Pro features a new design with a V for victory like arrows flowing downwards on the rear. The design is refreshing and looks good. The quad lens cameras are placed at the top-left corner, aligned vertically in the module. Letters ‘48MP AI CAMERA’ are inscribed inside the camera module. Buyers can choose from two colour variants of Narzo 20 Pro: Ninja Black and White Black.

The smartphone has a polycarbonate body and features USB Type-C charging port and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom edge. On the right side is the fingerprint sensor which is convenient to use.
The SIM card tray and the volume buttons are placed on the left edge. Speaker grilles are on the bottom side.
On the front, Narzo 20 Pro has a 6.5-inch FHD+ fullscreen with 2400x1080pixel resolution. The display offers a 90.5% screen-to-body ratio and comes with Corning Glass layer.
The smartphone’s large screen offers good viewing experience while streaming online contents and watching videos. Colours produced are sharp and vibrant. We did not face any issue with the viewing angles on the phone.

Realme Narzo 20 Pro has adequate brightness levels for both indoor and outdoor use. Many phones at this price point offer 90Hz refresh rate display. Realme Narzo 20 Pro does not fall back in the race and has a 90Hz refresh rate. While the phone automatically sets the refresh rate based on activity, one can also customise it manually.

Realme Narzo 20 Pro: Camera

image

Realme Narzo 20 Pro has a 48MP primary camera on the back. This is paired with an 8MP ultra-wide lens with 119-degree field of view, a 2MP black & white lens and a 2MP macro lens that can be used to click photos that are 4cm near.

image

The 48MP lens actually captures 12MP shots by default. And since this is the lens one will use most of the time, let's talk about it first. The primary camera offers good dynamic range and retains the natural colour of the objects in the images. HDR mode adds more details and vibrancy to the images. Both indoor and outdoor shots clicked on the phone were good.

image

However, the image quality drops for the ultra-wide lens. Colours lose their vibrancy and the image becomes a bit dull. Photos captured using the macro lens do not come out that good. They lack in detail and are not sharp enough. thPortrait shots captured using Realme Narzo 20 Pro are impressive with the adequate levels of blur.

image

Low-light photography on Narzo 20 Pro is not that impressive despite having a Super Nightscape mode. Images do not have sufficient details and come out with background noise.
The smartphone can capture video with up to 1080pixel resolution. It has an Ultra Steady mode to stabilise videos being recorded. For selfies, the phone has a 16MP in-display camera. Photos are satisfactory in daylight, although they tend to be flat in low light.

Realme Narzo 20 Pro: Performance

Realme Narzo 20 Pro comes powered by MediaTek Helio G95 octa-core processor clocked at up to 2.05GHz. The handset comes in two RAM models, 6GB and 8GB paired with 64GB and 128GB internal storage. The phone’s performance on a day to day basis is smooth. You can switch through apps and perform multitasks easily without any lag. App loading time was quick too.
For gaming, the phone processor works smoothly. Although the phone did get slightly warmed up during gaming, there was no major heating. It is equipped with carbon fibre cooling technology that helps regulate the phone’s temperature.

[c=redRealme Narzo 20 Pro runs on the company’s own Realme UI based on the latest Android 10 operating system. The OS offers customizations options like the ability to download app icon packages of one’s choice. The UI is comparatively easy to use and navigate through.
There are features like App lock and Private Space to secure a user’s privacy and safety of data. Realme UI comes with five types of colour schemes to choose from. Other than these, the UI offers AI wallpapers and customizable dark mode. The phone comes with bloatware apps that can be uninstalled.[/c]

Realme Narzo 20 Pro: Battery

Realme Narzo 20 Pro is backed by a 4,500mAh battery. The key highlight is the 65watt Super Dart charger which can power up the device with 100% battery in less than 45 minutes. The charging speed is really fast and impressive. And if you are in hurry, simply plug in the phone for 15 minutes and see the phone charge up to 40%. Talking about battery performance, the phone lasted more than 36 hours for us. This included moderate phone usage with few hours of watching online videos, listening to music and calls.

Verdict:

Realme Narzo 20 Pro’s 64watt fast charger is really fast. Equally efficient is battery performance. The MediaTek G95 processor gives you no reason to complain on a day-to-day basis. The camera performance of the smartphone is good too, except for low-light photography. The phone overall justifies its value price of Rs 14,999 (starting price). The phone will compete with the company’s own Realme 7, Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro and Samsung Galaxy F41.
