#1Kerala has several medical entrance examinations for admissions to various medical and allied health science courses. The most prominent ones are:
NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test - Undergraduate):
This is the single national-level entrance exam for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy), BVSc & AH, and other medical/paramedical courses in government and private colleges across India,
including Kerala
. It's mandatory for admission to any medical college in Kerala, regardless of management (government, private, or deemed).
NEET-PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test - Postgraduate):
This is the national-level entrance exam for admission to various postgraduate medical courses (MD/MS/Diploma) in government and private medical colleges across India,
including Kerala.
KEAM (Kerala Engineering, Architecture and Medical Entrance Examination):
While KEAM is primarily known for engineering and architecture admissions, the scores are
no longer used
for medical or allied health science admissions. NEET-UG is the sole determinant for these courses. However, KEAM is still relevant for admission to some paramedical courses like B.Pharm, BSc Nursing (in government colleges), etc.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Entrance Exam (Now integrated into NEET):
Previously a separate exam, AIIMS admissions are now conducted through NEET-UG.
Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) Entrance Exam (Now integrated into NEET):
Similar to AIIMS, JIPMER admissions are now conducted through NEET-UG and NEET-PG.
Key things to remember:
NEET is paramount:
For aspiring medical and dental students in Kerala, NEET-UG is the most crucial exam.
State merit list:
After NEET results are declared, the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala, prepares a state merit list based on NEET scores. This list is used for allotment of seats in government and private medical/dental colleges in Kerala.
Counseling:
CEE conducts centralized counseling for allotment of seats based on the state merit list and candidate preferences.
For specific information on paramedical courses and other allied health science programs, it's recommended to check the official websites of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala, and the respective universities.
