The Indian Economy is projected to expand at a rate of 6.3% to 6.8% in the financial year 2025-2026, the Economic Survey presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Friday.

The survey also said that India needs to grow at 8% for up to two decades to become a developed nation by 2047.

The Economic Survey is an annual document presented by the government ahead of the Union Budget to review the state of the economy. The document also provides an overview of the short-to-medium-term prospects of the economy.

The first part of the Budget Session of Parliament began on Friday and will continue till February 13. The session will reconvene on March 10 and continue till April 4. The entire Budget Session will have 27 sittings.

In her address to the joint sitting of Parliament, President Droupadi Murmu emphasised the government's commitment to inclusive development, stating the success of a nation is ensured only when it adheres to fundamental principles.
