IIMs (Indian Institutes of Management) offer a variety of courses at different levels, broadly categorized as:

1. Post Graduate Programs (PGP):

These are the flagship programs of IIMs, equivalent to an MBA.

Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP):

A two-year full-time residential program. This is the most popular and sought-after program.

Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives (PGPX/EPGP/PGPEM):

One-year full-time residential program designed for working professionals with substantial work experience. Different IIMs use different acronyms for essentially the same type of program.

Post Graduate Programme in Business Management (PGPBM):

Offered by some IIMs as a blended program (mix of online and offline learning), catering to working professionals.

2. Doctoral Programs (Fellow Programme in Management - FPM):

Equivalent to a PhD, these programs are research-oriented and typically take 4-5 years to complete. Specializations are available across various management disciplines.

3. Executive Education Programs:

Short-term certificate programs catering to specific needs of working executives. These programs vary in duration and focus on particular areas like leadership, strategy, finance, marketing, etc. They can be open programs or customized for specific organizations.

4. Integrated Programs:

Some IIMs offer integrated programs (IPM) that combine undergraduate and postgraduate studies. These programs are typically 5 years long.

Specific Examples of Programs (This is not an exhaustive list, and offerings may change):

Program Duration:

PGP programs are two years long, while PGPX/EPGP/PGPEM programs are one year long.

Curriculum:

While both cover core management concepts, PGPX/EPGP/PGPEM programs often delve deeper into strategic management and leadership, leveraging the participants' prior experience.

Peer Group:

PGP programs have a more diverse peer group in terms of age and background, while PGPX/EPGP/PGPEM programs have a more experienced and homogenous peer group.
